Sword of the New World Classes

The player starts out with the ability to create either of five starter classes: Fighter, Wizard, Scout, Musketeer and Elementalist (Warlock in the Japanese version).

  1. Fighter
  2. Wizard
  3. Musketeer
  4. Scout
  5. Elementalist

Stances and skills:
Each class may use a variety of weaponry and gear, which is limited by level. Particular weapons or combinations of weapons require a Stance to use, and with each stance comes a set of skills. Books to learn higher-level Stances may be purchased at the Stancebook seller NPC. The higher the level of the Stance, the more skills can be unlocked, and the more skill points can be spent on improving each skill. The Fighter class has a particularly varied set of Stances that employ a wide range of weapons, from two-handed swords and polearms to sabres, rapiers and pistols.

Stances and Skillpoints:
Stance Level 1 gets 0 points per level
Stance Levels 2-4 get 1 point per level.
Stance Levels 5-9 get 2 points per level.
Stance Levels 10-14 get 3 points per level.
Stance Levels 15-19 get 4 points per level.
Stance Levels 20-24 get 5 points per level.
Stance Level 25 gets 6 points per level.
Maxing a Stance fully to Level 25 gives 79 total points to distribute amongst your skills for that stance.

Inherent Skills:
All Character classes have one inherent skill that they can use regardless of the stance they are using. This skill shows up as the sixth icon from the left in the character panel (keyboard command, Y, H or N). An inherent skill improves as a character levels up - you do not assign skill points to it.
