Everybody likes Trivia

Granado espada is a game with a lot of cultural mixes, since its time-line is based on the discovery of the New world. Let's take a look at the other side of the game, the "behind the scene" clues that the Administrators of the game left us (in our version of GE and others)

First, the Trivia information, from GranadoSource: sGE

  1. Granado espada" is Spanish for "distinguished sword", although the grammar is improper, as in Spanish the noun comes before the adjective. Also, "espada" is a feminine noun, so the name of the game should be "Espada Granada". The game's backstory claims that the new world was "discovered" by 2 explorers named Granado and Espada.
  2. When Idge Imbrulia, the first blacksmith one encounters in the game, gives the player's family their first Plate Mail armor in the game she tells them it's marked with her personal trademark, a swoosh. This is in reference to a scene in the film A Knight's Tale. Incidentally the trademark bears an uncanny resemblance to the Nike logo.
  3. There is one possible Counter-Strike reference in the game. At the end of one of the quests, the NPC who assigned the quest announces: "Counter-Terrorists Win."
  4. There is also a Ghost Busters reference in the game. Prior to assigning a quest, an NPC claims uses the phrase "ain't afraid of no ghosts."
  5. The nickname of "Granado Espada" in Korea is a "dressing game" this is partly due to the fact that update patch of the game mostly introduces new game costumes for characters.
  6. The Roof, Plow and Tail stances used by the fighter class in game are based on three actual guards found in the Medieval and Renaissance German school of fencing. The guards depicted in game are similar to those used by the longsword
  7. All the names of sGE server are taken from Miguel de Cervantes, Agostino Carracci, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, Johann Pachelbel
  8. Most of the recruitable character's names are from prominent people during the renaissance period.
  9. There's a real person named Pánfilo de Narváez and he was a Spanish conqueror and soldier in the Americas. So much for being a battle cook in the world of Granado Espada.
  10. Brunie Etienne's surname (Étienne) is equivalent to Stephen in French. While her first name may be derived from the leading humanist of the renaissance's Leonardo Bruni.
  11. Ramiro's named probably came from the Spanish King Ramiro I of Astarius/Aragon.
  12. Adelina Esperanza's surname is equivalent to Hope in Spanish.
  13. If you search M'Boma in wikipedia the closest turn out would be Edwin Sam - M’boma who is a Sierra Leonean military commander.
  14. Soho is an area in the centre of the West End of London, England, in the City of Westminster. It is an entertainment district which for much of the later part of the 20th century had a reputation for its sex shops as well as its night life and film industry.
  15. Lorch Furuholmen shares the same surname with some guitarist/keyboardist Magne Furuholmen.
  16. Jean-Pierre Gascon or formerely known as Gertrude came from Gertrude the Great who was a German Benedictine and mystic writer.

The 5 artists named after the previous 5 sGE servers are all Baroque artists. Two servers remained after a merge, named "Bach" and "Rembrandt." About a month later, another server was added, named "Giovanni."

These 3 servers are named, again, after Baroque artists, the composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, and the painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. Incidentally, both servers named after the composers (Bach and Giovanni) are both PK servers, and the server named after the painter (Rembrandt) is a non-PK server.

In the description of a certain winter hat for the elementalists in Andre's shop, it says something to the effect of "This is the hat for characters who like to go CLUBBING with Baby seals."
it made me laugh.
