Resistance and Combat:
Resistance - These are the character's resistances to the forces of Fire, Lighting, Ice and Mind and Sonic. These values can be modified by spells and equipment. Fire is trumped by Ice, Ice trumped by Lightning and Lightning Trumped by Fire. Fire magic has a strong and definite base attack. Ice has weaker attack power, though has powerful spells that strike single targets. Lightning has low accuracy but the highest base attack. Though Lightning attacks can strike really hard, they can likewise deal very minimal damage as well due to it's low accuracy. Sonic attacks are attacks such as Vincent's lutes, while Wizard skills and attacks are primarily Mental. A high Mind resistance score will also help against debuffs.
Attack Rating - This is the efficiency of your attacks. How well you can hit and damage and opponent is determined by comparing your AR to your opponent's DR. AR is determined by your level, weapon and weapon enchantments. AR can be modified by certain skills and items as well. The simplest way to explain AR is to think of it as the ability to pierce through defenses. However, once it "punches" through armor, you will also need Attack Power to deal significant damage. However, without the AR to "punch" through, your attacks will either not connect or will do minimal damage. An AR +3 weapon is always welcome, though at an equal AR vs DR situation, Attack Power will help more.
Generally, Attack Power will help more in PvE while AR in PvP.
Attack Power - This represents your attack power (melee, long range or magical). It can be raised by the level of your weapon and your weapon's enchantments, items such as AM Boosts, skills, as well as your Family level.
Accuracy - This defines your character's Accuracy with weapons. The higher your Accuracy rating, the better your chance of damaging your opponent. The max accuracy you can attain is 100. The less Accuracy your character has, the less likely that character is able to do full damage. For instance, at Accuracy 70, the damage you deal will range from 70-100% of your maximum amount of damage. A low Accuracy score means that your DPS will fluctuate and your character will likely deal less damage.
Attack Speed - This is how fast your character attacks. The lower the value, the faster the attack. To determine the maximum speed of a particular stance, simply divide 40 by the number of attacks it does per cycle. For instance, Martial Elements: Wind strikes 3 times per attack, hence, 40/3 = 13. Outrage strikes 4 times per attack, hence, 40/4 = 10. Penetrar Cruz strikes once per attack, hence, 40/1 = 40.
Defense Rating - This is the efficiency of your defense. It is compared to your attacker's attack level to determine whether and how much damage you are dealt in an attack and if the attack will hit at all. It can be modified by your level, armor and its enchantments, as well as certain skills and items. Opposed to AR, it is almost always better to have +DR mods to one's armor as compared to +Defense, though +Defense will still greatly help.
Perhaps the best argument for the value to defense is the Fighter, whose high defense through his armor allows him to withstand attacks from monsters with higher AR.
Defensive Power - This value represents your defensive power, and reduces the amount of damage you take from physical attacks. It can be raised by the level of your armor, and your armor's enchantments, items such as AM Boosts and skills. High Defense is the reason why Fighters or other metal armor users can take a lot of abuse despite a difference between the Fighter's DR and the attacker's DR.
Evasion Rate - This value represents the percentage of melee attacks your character can Evade/parry. It is strongly affected by his active stance. You can't have dodge if you already have block. Characters with Evade can dodge physical attacks but cannot weave through magic and ranged attacks.
Block - This value represents the percentage of physical attacks your character can block. It is strongly affected by his active stance. You can't have Block if you already have Dodge/Evade. Block defends against physical and ranged attacks, but not against magic.
Absorb - Each point in absorb adds to Defense, Evade or Block and Resistances.
Penetration - The opposite of absorb, allowing your attacks to pierce through Defense, Block or Evasion and Resistance, allowing for greater damage.
